Yet our customers have asked for more; specifically, a muffler only solution for iconic classic muscle cars from the 1960s thru the 1990s and heavily modified late model vehicles. Our goal was to address this request and still provide the best acoustic experience possible.

A CORSA Performance exhaust system is truly different from most traditional exhaust solutions available. Each CORSA exhaust is a unique system that has been engineered and tuned to the exact specifications (engine, transmission, exhaust configuration, sound deadening material, artificial cabin noise, cylinder deactivation, AFM, DFM etc.) each late-model vehicle requires.

Every variable plays a role in creating the exhaust note and impacts the amount of drone present. Our engineers analyze all these factors and implement multiple elements, including evaluating 3 generations of our patented RSC® Technology, to create a free-flowing exhaust system with an aggressive exhaust note that delivers a Drone Free driving experience. Technologies present in today's modern vehicles complicate acoustic development with the introduction of new fuel saving solutions like AFM (Active Fuel Management), DFM (Dynamic Fuel Management) MDS (Multiple Displacement System) and recently introduced variable driving mode technologies with active valve exhaust systems. Creating a Drone Free exhaust systems for today's late model vehicles is a combination of experienced engineering and art that often takes months and in some cases more than a year of continuous development.

Utilizing that knowledge acquired over two decades of acoustic data recordings and engineering, CORSA’s engineers developed the best solution to eliminate the most common Drone inducing frequencies present on V8 engines. This acoustic experience combined with the simplified firing sequences present in "Classic" and heavily modified engines (engines lacking AFM, DFM, MDS, Driving Modes or Valved Exhaust Technologies) comparatively minimalistic acoustic requirements, allowed CORSA engineers to distill our development principles into a single muffler solution worthy of bearing the CORSA Performance brand. While the CORSA Performance Pro Series® Mufflers aren't a perfect acoustic solution like our fully engineered exhaust systems, we are confident they offer this unique consumer the best possible muffler only solution available on the market today.

CORSA Performance Pro Series® Mufflers are patent pending and feature CORSA's patented third generation RSC® Technology. Each muffler has been engineered to provide an iconic aggressive "Sport" exhaust note while reducing more drone frequencies than most traditional mufflers.

Looking for ways to quiet engine noise has been ongoing for well over 100 years. In 1897 the first “exhaust muffler for engines” patent was granted to Milton O. and Marshall T. Reeves. The renowned Ohio inventors and auto enthusiast quickly realized a means to quiet engine noise was essential to creating a more enjoyable driving experience, prevent scaring horses, and annoying residents. To create that experience, Milton O. created a baffled muffler solution that would greatly reduce vehicle operating volume.

Since that time in 1897, mufflers have continued to evolve and today there are numerous mufflers available for quieting engine noise. The most well-recognized muffler type however is likely the “packed or glasspack” muffler that was introduced to the automotive world in the 1960s. The advent of the glasspack muffler allowed auto manufacturers to reduce engine noise through sound absorption without inhibiting airflow. When sound waves pass through a packed muffler system the loud sound waves are dissipated as they pass through a perforated pipe into fiberglass materials that fill the muffler chamber. The fiberglass materials absorb those sound waves and quiet the overall volume of the engine, quieting the exhaust note.

Packed mufflers quickly became the industry standard to quiet engine noise and today they make up the majority of readily available options for quieting car engines. Not all glasspack mufflers are created equally; the materials used and the way the materials are employed create vast differences amongst a sea of product options.

CORSA Performance Packed Resonators have been engineered for maximum impact and lasting performance. Unlike most manufacturers, CORSA’s primary vehicle for sound attenuation has long been our proprietary No Drone RSC® (Reflective Sound Cancellation) Technology. While RSC® Technology is the standard by which all other No Drone Muffler solutions are judged, RSC® Technology in and of itself does very little to quiet the exhaust note. Instead, RSC® Technology on its own is a tuned instrument designed explicitly to eliminate drone while driving. When a reduction in volume is needed, we employ a proven engineered synthetic fiberglass solution to suppress sound and reduce overall volume. Pro Series Packed Resonators are an offshoot of a 25 Year long process honing our understand of sound absorption properties.

Over the course of 25 years, we’ve engineered to exact specifications a range of packed resonator solutions that are used to control volume in a variety of CORSA Performance exhaust systems. Made from 304 stainless steel material PRO Series packed resonators are guaranteed to uphold abuse from the toughest environmental elements. Each PRO SERIES Packed Resonator features a non-chambered, non-baffled design engineered to maximize air flow and performance. Every perforated core is wrapped in a precise amount of specially selected hi-temp (Up to 700F) synthetic sound absorption material that will not breakdown or burn out. The select combination of materials and engineering provide the custom builder an ideal solution to control volume, reduce rasp, deepen, or tailor the exhaust note to their exacting specifications.

PRO SERIES Packed Resonators come in a variety of sizes (2.50”, 2.75”, 3.00”) and configurations allowing the builder to customize the acoustic solution to their needs. As a stand-alone acoustic solution PRO SERIES Packed Resonators deliver a “classic” deep exhaust note. When paired as a system with CORSA Performance PRO SERIES Tuned Mufflers, PRO SERIES Packed Resonators reduce volume, control rasp, and deepen the exhaust note. Depending on resonator configuration chosen, PRO SERIES Packed Resonators have been tested to reduce volume by 2-8 decibels.
